There are over 150 different types of headaches and we don't always know what may have triggered them but we are able to track them. Frequent headaches are very common and even more so among women. Although headaches are common, they are NOT NORMAL!
Here are some common headaches:
tension/stress headache
cluster headache
cervicogenic headache
migraine headache - so many different types!!!
allergy or sinus headache
menstrual migraine
caffeine headache
hypertension headache
rebound headache
post-traumatic headache
Headache journals are important to help you find a possible pattern and determine the type of headaches you have. Not only that, but this can give your doctor clues into what type of headache you may have. Now, how do you even start?
How to start a headache journal:
1 ) Date & time
2 ) Location of headache
3 ) List the duration of the headache
4 ) Things that helped relieve it
5 ) How intense was the headache? Have a pain scale of (1-10). You know your body better than anyone to know your own pain scale.
6 ) Other associated symptoms (ex. vomiting, nausea, sensitivity to light, sounds, or smell)
Track your headaches for a month and show them to your doctors to get the best care possible. You can also start to do little things today to make sure you are living healthy. Try drinking some more water, taking a short walk outside, or do some gentle stretches. Even though it may not sound like much, these are helpful for your overall health and well-being.
